How Perfectionism Keeps You Back
The other day I heard the following remark in an office when a staff member, who I happen to know really wants a better job and make more money, was asked to do a specific task different from the regular.
The answer was: “Oh, I do not feel quite qualified to do this job, so I would rather have somebody else do this!”
Brilliant! This is the safe and best way not to obtain any of the things you might dream about, which could give you some of the satisfaction you are seeking.
Of course it is risk free and safe to state that you do not feel qualified and therefore say no – there could also be perfectly good professional and true reasons not the least the fear of not doing a good enough job, a perfect job. Perfectionism has always been the enemy of individual progress.
Well, everything new has a “first time”, a time when you simply throw yourself into fresh encounters. And surprise, you mostly find out that not only did you flat out do very well, it was also amazingly effortless and fun.
To get the benefit of a better quality of life some imagination, risk taking and instant action can help you gain the happiness you are looking for.
Your comfort and fear holds you back, your passion and effort makes you unique.
